His work is more than an archaeological study; it is the history of the nuclear age. Meticulously researched, it chronicles the development of the bomb, its deployment in Japan, the preparations for the tests, the attempted clean-up afterward, and the beginning of the Cold War. Many of the photographs and diagrams were first published by the National Park Service in a study entitled The Archaeology of the Atomic Bomb (1991). My Dad was there (USS Reclaimer) - swimming in the atoll the day after the blasts, cleaning refuged ships, etc. It's amazing he's still alive.Nice photos; good summaries. This isn't a full-blown account of Operation CrossRoads but a nice summary of the ships. If you are interested in OC, this is a good book to have on your shelf.

Nice book to research prior to diving there. Nice reference for those interested in the history. Plenty of wartime details and the after effects of atomic testing

This is a great mini-coffee table book (get the hardcover if you REALLY dig this stuff!) offering hours of information and photos of the famous atomic bomb tests on naval ships at Bikini Atoll. The 190 page book is broken into nine chapters and has excellent notes on sources. Background information covers the first half of the book while the second is focused on recent dives to many of the famous and lesser known ships that were sunk here. The writing is very informative and the photographs are absolutely haunting, particularly the ones of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga! Several color photos are included in the center. The author pushes no agenda in this book. He merely reports the facts available both "good and bad".

James Delgado does a very good job of reviewing the sunken ships of Bikini Atoll and telling the story of the 1946 atomic bomb tests. I read this book after diving at Bikini Atoll and found it to be a good treatment of a topic that has received too little attention. As far as wreck diving goes, Bikini Atoll is the best in the world, and my only disappointment with this book is that it does not fill the need for a coffee-table-style photographic survey of the incredible shipwrecks at Bikini. That being said, Delgado's book is a nice compromise between such a coffee table book and the more comprehensive historical treatment in Jonathan Weisgall's superb book on Bikini Atoll.

Having lived in the Marshall islands and dove the wrecks at Bikini I appreciated the history, photos and accounts presented in this book. The author does a great job of research on the ships & the crews, but makes a laughable conclusion that racism was the primary goal when placing the ships in the target area with regards to the German cruiser Priz Eugen and the Captured Japanese vessels which mars this otherwise good historical account.

I found this book to be most interesting, with a very accessible writing style.

I get a page a day calendar every year, and this is the first one I have been disappointed in in the last 15 years. 7 days in and not one good laugh. Skipped ahead...this should be called Jokes a 3 year old wouldn't find funny.

If you’re looking for SUPER corny jokes... this ones for you. If you’re getting this for work, beware. Your coworkers may start to resent your purchase—like mine do now. I think the jokes are funny. I read them aloud every morning. My two complaints are the calendar fell apart before it was even out of the box, and it’s not really pretty to look at on my desk. Wishing for some color.

Mom loves this calendar and shares jokes with friends and family! Too bad it doesn't come with Jimmy Falon ;)

Was a good read. Writing was a little light in a few places and a little over the top in others. Would recommend it.

It became fairly obvious that this was the author's first book and that it was written over many years and he had difficulty finishing the book. If editing and punctuation get in the way of your enjoyment of a book, then you might want to skip this. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am glad that Amazon promoted this book...otherwise, I would probably never have read it. The story line is fascinating and quite enjoyable with some excellent moral ideas exposed. While Santo (the dog) appears to be the hero, there are actually many heroes in this story. The plot is current with today's struggles regarding terrorists and migrants and puts an excellent perspective on what really matters. I would have a difficult time saying this is a "faith-based" book...I think anyone regardless of religious beliefs would enjoy this book.

What a totally uplifting story centered on the mysterious and wonderful relationship between dogs, mankind, and the invisible hand that seems to have made them for one another. This masterfully woven tale will have you turning page after page as you're compelled toward an ending you simultaneously don't want to come--because you've found lasting new friendships in Santos, Jesus, Pilar, Santiago, Mr. Big, and Matt. If current world events sometimes leave you feeling in despair, pick up this book and be reminded that life is short--but hope is still there.

This was a delightful read. True? Who knows but I like to hold it in my heart that a four legged unconditional loving dog was with our Lord when he suffering. I read this book slowly because I enjoyed it so much. They way it was written was so well put together. I looked forward to reading a little every night. "Santo" brought me comfort and definitely carried the light and love of Christ. This is NOT a book that cries Zealot rather it is a book about love, and that the story of Christ goes on and what a beautiful way to portray it in mans best friend.

I loved this story! It was well written and a fast read. If you are a Christian and animal lover, this book touches on both. As a Christian and a faithful follower of Christ, it was a breath of fresh air! I did enjoy it. This book made me think about my faith and how to dig deeper into it. Must read!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of imagination and made me think. Hard to explain why you like a book -- it was just good! I guess a good book, to me, is one I wish didn't have to end and this one was that way. If this was a hardcover book, I'd be passing it around to my friends and family by now. ;)

This is a wonderful book for all ages over 9 years old. The author weaves peace, hope and belief into a wonderful story. I would give it 10 stars if I could. I downloaded mine on my IPad, and it works out great. I plan on purchasing other books written by this author.The world is short on peace and hope; therefore, this is an excellent place to start..

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was twist to a story we've all heard before in Sunday School. Plus being a Dog Lover, I was attracted to this story, to mention, the dog on the cover is a spitting image of my dog. If you're looking for an easy, spiritual revival, this book will do that. As they say, Dog spelled backwards is God. That sums it up.

Very interesting tale, and quite inspiring. The author weaves a legend into current events to create a thrilling saga. The struggles between good and evil are a reflection of issues we face today. The one great message from the story is to never give up and to look for the miracles in life.
