This book is incredible. As soon as I picked it up and read the first page I was drawn in. It feels like Mr. Simon is speaking directly to you, and you can feel his humor (it's beautifully funny and intelligent). In addition to this his knowledge is so extensive, simply executed, and you can just tell it rings true. Plus I love the book cover, it's so inviting and makes me want to pick it back up again and again. I can't wait to apply some of the techniques and concepts in my social media and business ventures.
I received an early copy of this book, and found it both useful and enjoyable. I've been working on developing my own digital platform, and the author provides a logical framework for understanding how to prioritize my efforts on that front. Build an Army helps clear up a lot of the misconceptions people tend to have as they get into blogging (or podcasting or any other kind of social publishing) and replaces them with solid insights and perspective. Well worth the read.
An absolute gold mine of information for people serious about building an audience the right way. I'll be reading through this again and taking notes of all the things I need to start doing or doing better.

Build an Army takes this task of creating content and breaks it down into easy to understand but not dumbed down language. There is gold in this book and not just for bloggers. A lot of my customers write marketing emails and this is just as applicable to them as it is to bloggers. If you produce content and want to be sure you're doing it in the best way that sets you apart, you need this book. It's a fast read and is full of great tips, one-liners and analogies that make it really entertaining as well as valuable. I found myself marking up my copy with underlines and brackets because so many things just struck me as really applicable to myself or my customers. I hope Jonathan Simon has another book (or four) in his future because this one was awesome.
I devoured Build An Army! As a 6-year blogger and 4-year podcaster I have come across many recommendations for building an audience, but Simon's approach stands apart. The BAA approach is authentic (no click-bait here) and widely applicable to anyone wanting to grow an engaged online audience - from a neighborhood group to an online brand. In a conversational and humorous tone, Simon gives the reader specific action steps towards building an engaged audience and provides concrete reasons of why his approach works. When I finished I was buzzing with ideas that would be easy to implement and have a big impact.
